Role of multidetector computed tomography in evaluation of resectability of pancreatic cancer

Abstract Background Pancreatic cancer is one of the most significant causes and lethal malignant neoplasms in world death developed nations. It was named “silent killer” for its quiet course, late clinical presentation, trend rapid growth. The aim this study to detect reliability multidetector CT (MDCT) as diagnostic tool assessing possibility eradicating pancreatic cancer. Results Twenty-four patients (57%) were not suitable surgery with non-resectable mass; remaining eighteen (43%) considered according MDCT criteria surgical resection tumor. Fourteen out sixteen (87.5%) had a successful removal lump, while two cases (12.5%) during surgery, mass unresectable. results pathology specimens showed that fourteen (100%) operation no cells margin, positive predictive value 87.5% accuracy 89.47%. Conclusions advancement expertise improves outcome resectability.
